  • Hi, Elise B.

Microsoft Expression was a set of tools used to design software solutions. There were actually several different Expression tools created by Microsoft for creating different types of solutions.

For example, Microsoft Expression Blend was used to build user interfaces (UIs) for applications that used Silverlight, Windows Phone, and Windows Desktop (using Windows Presentation Foundation, WPF).

Expression Web was actually a web design developer tool.

Microsoft Expression Ultimate included all the Expression tools.

Recently, Microsoft decided to roll Expression Blend into Visual Studio. As well they have decided not to create new versions of the other tools. One good thing about that is that they are now free to download and use.

Learn more about all the new changes that occurred with Microsoft Expression tools here:

    I hope this helped.

    Good luck!
