Problem in Data Migration Manager 'You must have System Administrator security role to use this tool"

Hello,
I'm trying to run DMM, but it keeps telling me this "'You must have System Administrator security role to use this tool". However, I am the Network Admin and I have full system roles in the CRM. Any advice?
Thanks- Edited by Peter US Sunday, January 31, 2010 3:24 PM Title change

Hi
Have you recently applied update rollup 6, 7 or 8?
I've seen this error before when an update rollup is applied to DMM.
Try uninstalling the UR (If you have 6,7 or 8 applied) and see if that helps. Just do it for the DMM not server, client or SSRS

Hi,
There's a bug in DMM which has being solved later on in the rollups. Thus, just apply DMClient recent Rollups (especially 6 and 7) and it's gonna work fine.

Well, I think you hould apply Rollup for DMM.I tried it with Rollup 6 and 7 and it worked. However, try to uninstall the rollups for CRM and DMM and try. Then, in case of failure, try to apply earlier Rollup and try the DMM again. However, it should work properly on 6 and 7.
Wish you a good luck

Hi,In the deployment manager of CRM you have to be granted the correct role.

I am having the same issue with DMM - "You must have the System Administrator security role to use this tool".
At first, I was trying to use it on a 64bit Virtual system (64bit Server 2008 R2, 64bit SQL Server 2005) - no luck. Thinking it could be something with the 64bit OS or SQL Server, I tried it on another, clean, 32bit physical box (Server 2008, SQL Server 2005) - still no luck.
Ultimately, I just want sample data in my test system - I may just use Deployment Manager to import an Org. But I really want to understand why the DMM tool isn't working - it's bugging me.
Thanks!

I was on Rollup 12 (for CRM) - didn't work. Then I uninstalled that to see if it was the problem - nope.
Is there a seperate "Rollup" you are referring to just for Data Migration Manager?
Should I try a lower rollup, like 6 or 7, instead of jumping to 12?
*Edit* - I tried 6 - didn't work.

I had the same problem so I thought i'd just share what I did to make it work for anyone else who has the same issue.
I initially installed Dynamics and the DMM from a CD I got with the MS ACtion pack. So not sure what roolup that was.
Anyway - i coudln't log into DMM it kept telling me 'You must have System Administrator security role to use this tool' even though I already did.
So I tried to apply update rollup12. Most of the modules applied ok. BUT when I tried to apply the rollup12 for DMM it said.
the Data Migration Manager was not found on the system. SO after reading a few similar posters problems I resorted to downloading update rollup7.
This worked fine then I WAS able to install update Rollup 12 and now I can log in.
Happy days!!
