Dashbaord from multiple organizations. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi, I'm trying to create a dashboard from multiple organizations. What i really intend to do is have multiple organizations with different contacts, accounts, leads and sales and create a dashboard that displays all the sales and activities from those organizations. Is it possible to create a dashboard from multiple organizations, or better yet is it possible to create sub organizations, and how?

  • Hi,

Using the standard out of the box features you can not create a dashboard that will take data from multiple organizations CRM database but you can create SSRS report and displayed in Dashboard, the report can take data from multiple organization CRM database. • CRM organizations are self-contained and there is no data sharing among organizations. Perhaps it makes more sense if you are talking about multiple Business Units within the same organization. In that case you can create dashboards that display information grouped by business unit. However, CRM charts cannot access data from other organizations.

If you want to analyze data accross CRM organizations you might have to host your own reporting service that accesses data from multiple organizations, but you'd have to implement how this service is accessed and configure it so it can retrieve data from multiple sources.

  • Hi,

Yes Business Units can have their own Contacts, Leads, Activities, Accounts, Activities etc..CRM allows to control data security business unit wise but there are some entities that have Organization based Ownership and their data will be shared across all business units i.e Product entity

If you are planning to implement the organizaitons as Business Unit then have a deep look on CRM Security Model : http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg309524.aspx

  • I did the configurations and security roles for business units. How can i tell what business unit a contact is under for a admin who can view all contacts?

  • Hi,

Contatcs belong to the Users (have User as Owner of contact) and Users belong to the Business Unit. You can create a contact entity view/edit modify and include the User entity column/Field Business Unit.
