Question

I have a genuine windows package (see test results below).
Everytime I try and open outlook its keeps on telling me the product is not genuine - yet everytime I press validate and goto the website it recognises the genuine product.

Hello shshah01,
The Windows portion of your mgadiag report is telling us that your installation of Windows XP Pro on your Dell Dimension 4700 computer is a Genuine installation of an OEM license, so no worries about Windows.
However, you do have a problem with your Office installation.
Here is the Office portion of the mgadiag report:
OGA Data-->
Office Status: 103 Blocked VLK
Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007 - 103 Blocked VLK
OGA Version: Registered, 2.0.48.0
Signed By: Microsoft
Office Diagnostics: 025D1FF3-230-1
The report is telling us that you have a nongenuine installation of a Volume Licensing-only edition of Office Enterprise 2007. Your installation was done with a now-blocked Volume Licensing Key (VLK). Keys are blocked when they have been reported to Microsoft as being lost, stolen, or compromised to the internet, or when the associated Volume Licensing Agreement is ended.
Volume Licensing editions of Office such as your installation of Office Enterprise 2007 are not to be sold to individual consumers, and are only to be sold to businesses, educational institutions, and governmental agencies who need flexibility in installing and deploying many copies of Office.
These Volume Licenses should not be sold to consumers because they are not permanent licenses; they are subject to a current Volume Licensing Agreement that has a finite term, sort of like a lease. Consumers thinking they purchased permanently licensd software would understandably be upset when their software stopped working at the end of a lease.
If you purchased Office Enterprise 2007 thinking you were buying genuine retail Office Professional for consumers with a permanent license, please return the software to the place of purchase for replacement or a full refund.
You can also review the Office Genuine Advantage FAQ to see if you qualify for the discounted or complimentary replacement program called the Office Genuine Offer: http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/downloads/FAQ.aspx?displaylang=en&sGuid=4ba10af9-ffaa-4cb9-9af4-6aff8a220262#ID0EKNAC

Hi Darin,
Many thanks for your prompt reply.
In 2007 I bought the Microsoft Office Small Business 2007 upgrade. I still have the original CDs, packaging and liscence number and Microsoft certificate of authenticity. This office version must have been introduced when I went to get the PC repaired last year.
Is there anyway I can use my upgrade liscence to validate my office suite?

Hello srshah01,
This MS KB article has instructions for changing Office product keys: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/895456
I have not had occasion to do this to make the kind of change you would be attempting, changing not only the product key but the edition of Office as well, changing from Enterprise to Small Biz.
Please post back to tell us if it worked for you.
If it does not successfuly change the product key, you will have to uninstall Enterprise, restart twice, then install Small Biz. After installation is complete, restart once more, then visit www.microsoft.com/genuine and click Validate Office to clear the OGA Notifier cache and make sure your Small Biz installation validates properly.

Dan,
Before I proceed with your advice, can i confirm that I have the UPGRADE liscence for MSFT Small Business 2007. If I uninstall Enterprise, will installing the UPGRADE liscence of Small Business work?
I am keen to make sure I do everything correct as I do not want to take the machine to a repair man again!

Hello srshah01,
When you install an Upgrade license for Office 2007, if there is no qualifying upgradeable installation of Office, Works, or an Office component program on the computer, the Setup program will tell you to insert the installation CD for a qualifying upgradeable version of Office, Works, or an Office component program.
If you had an upgrade license for Office 2007 Small Biz previously installed on this computer, then in order to get that copy of Office Small Biz installed you had to have one or the other as above installed for the Small Biz Setup program to go forward.
What was on the computer that qualified to be upgraded by the installation of Office 2007 Small Biz?
