Hard drive filling up with something unknown RRS feed

  • Question

  • I turned on my computer and found my 74GB boot hard drive nearly full. I keep only the operating system and a few small programs on this disk. Everything else I use is installed on, and runs from, a 1 TB drive also on this computer.

Last week I had maybe 47GB of space used on this boot disk. I have not added anything except some VISTA critical updates and One Care updates and Windows explorer 8. I ran disk cleanup which freed up 6GB of space or so. I went downstairs to do the dishes and came back and hour later to find the disk full again. I deleted 4 GB of video I was working on to free up more space and the disk has filled up yet again. What is going on? I ran a scan from One Care on the disk and it found zero viruses spyware or anything else out of the ordinary.
