Can I write a log files in WIX installer files in C# RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All,

Actually my problem is I need my desktop application created in C# should be started automatically during the windows startup(Like Skype for business). My application works as expected in Windows 7 but not in the Windows 10. I have copied all the shortcut and EXE files in the startup folder but no luck in windows 10 OS.

During installation I do not let the user to choose whether he needs to start the application on startup or not. It is just a force startup.

Is there any way I can write a log in WIX installer and find out why the startup is not happening in Win 7.

    Any help would be great!!

  • There are several different ways to start an app on boot.

You could try writing to the registry instead of startup.

There's also a runonce option which is handy if you require some credentials or something entered.

    To give you the idea:

    Hope that helps.
