Quick question on file synchronization RRS feed

  • Question

  • I saw some posts tht suggested using file synchronization utilities such as synctoy might lead to WHS file corruption. Some posts suggested that this might have been a bug that has been fixed. Can anyone please confirm whether I can safely use Synctoy or a similar product on the Shared Folders of WHS?  I am aware that I should not attempt to use this on the "native" folders that WHS uses to store the files in Drive Extender.

    Thanks

  • The bug that has been mentioned has been fixed with the publishing of Power Pack 1. Since that time I did not read about any data losses caused by applications opening files on the server.
SyncToy has a few times been recommended for synchronizing data between local folders on a client and shares, so I also would assume, you are safe, as long as you target the share by its UNC path.
