Windows Office 2007 Validation won't work and problems with install--says not genuine.

Question
-
I have office 2007 enterprise edition. I have used it fine for over a year. I recently had to upgrade my hard drive and reinstall all my software. Office says it's not genuine. Everytime I open word or others it starts to go through an install process with codes like 1935 and others. If I cancel all the prompts, i can still use it. I have uninstalled multiple times and frankly am sick of this. please help. Diagnostics below:

Hello wolfthunder,
Office Status: 108 Invalid VLK
Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007 - 108 Invalid VLK
OGA Version: Registered, 2.0.48.0

The Office Enterprise 2007 is Non-Genuine. The key used to install that Office was created using a Piracy Tool called a Key Generater (or KeyGen). To Office, the key Looks just like a Valid key, but was not, in fact, created by Microsoft.
The reason you hadn't see the Non-Genuine message sooner is that Office doesn't have any anti-piracy systems other then Activation and this pirated Product Key is a Volume License Key that doesn't require Activation. The only way for you to have found out that the Office was Non-Genuine would have been if you had gone to http://Microsoft.com/genuine and click the 'Validate Office", gone to the Office Download site and attempted to download any non-criticat update or by installing the Office Notifier. It turns out that you just recently downloaded and installed the Office Notifer and that is what is telling you that Office is Non-Genuine
Now, I am Not accusing you of piracy. There are a number of reason why your Office would be using a Pirated key. The three most common are:
1) You may have bought the software from a unscrupulous seller who sold you pirated software.
In which case I recommend, if possible, contacting that seller and demand the Genuine Microsoft software, that you paid for or at least a refund. I also recommend submitting a Piracy Report at http://microsoft.com/piracy
or
2) You had your computer worked on (by a repair person, a friend or that smart kid down the street) and in the course of fixing the PC, they had to reinstall Office. Instead of contacting you to get the proper Product Key, (maybe due to not knowing it was wrong or due to laziness) they downloaded it from the internet.
In this case, you probably have a Genuine copy (and Product Key) of Office, you just need to uninstall the Non-genuine one and reinstall the software using the proper (Genuine) Product Key
or
3) A repair person, a friend or that smart kid down the street may have thought they were doing you a Favor by installing a copy of Office on your computer, "for Free". But in fact he/she installed a Pirated Copy. It's all togeather possible they didn't know they were doing anything wrong and thought they were just being nice.
In this case, the best way to resolve the issue would be to uninstall the software and if you still want to use Office, buy it from a trusted retailer or online store.
Thank you,

Well, I don't totally understand about the keygen stuff. However, I did purchase this laptop from a pawn shop and it had a file on the second hard drive for reinstallation and after I putting in a bigger main hard drive, I used that file to reinstall the software other than the OS as it originally had xp and I bought vista ultimate in order to get familiar with it before w7 as they are similar......so, what you are saying is that I should not use the reinstall file? Well, I don't have a problem buying office 2007, but I do have a quick question: I use msn premium for my email and when I used office 2003 the spell checker in the email worked good. Now, using the 2007 i have no spell checker in the english lanuage, but in French, is this due the office 2007 in general or because its fake? Need to know, cause if it's in general, I will buy 2003...thank you for your help.Friday, September 25, 2009 4:33 AM

Hi Wolfthunder,
I can only guess that your Office's Spell Check is in French because either the Office was a French version (I think the Menus and such showed up as English because the Windows it was installed on was English) or the past user configured it for French. These are guesses, but I can tell you that if you buy a Genuine copy of Office, it should have English Spell Check.
Thank you,
