Getting not genuine but Windows is activated RRS feed

  • Question

  • The computer had a new motherboard installed. I loaded the Win 7 OS and used an image from the original date of start-up a year ago to reset my system. Now it says it is activated, but I get pop-up messages saying it is not genuine. When I try to follow the links to resolve the issue, I get the error C8000247 and cannot proceed.

    Here is the diagnostic report:

  • This may simply be caused by a bad set of Intel Rapid Storage Technology drivers -

Installing the Intel Rapid Storage Drivers

try downloading and installing them from here - https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&ProdId=2101&DwnldID=22194

    (you want the iata_enu.exe download)

Once complete, please reboot twice, then post another MGADiag report.

  • Hi,

Installing the Intel Rapid Storage drivers appear to have done the trick. Would you be able to tell me why this works?

Thanks you for your help with this, I had tried other remedies without success.

  • It that changing hard drives and cloning the OS across upsets the drivers in a way that isn't obvious to the OS - and the easiest way to fix it is simply to install a new set.

There is another potential cause of this error set, but it's a less common one, so we keep that in reserve :)

You should now validate at www.microsoft.com/genuine/validate using Internet Explorer to clear the remaining error.

    Good luck!
