  • For R2 SQL Server 2008 is supported for back-end databases for all OCS components (Front-End, Monitoring (QoE+CDR), Archiving, and Group Chat)

The Monitoring Support documentation also infers this with the following statement:
"If your database server runs SQL Server 2008, you must use SQL Server 2008 Reporting Services. If the server runs SQL Server 2005, use SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services with SP2"

For the QoE/Archiving Server role in the original OCS 2007 Server release SQL Server 2008 is not supported for any of the server roles.
