Office Activation Problem RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi im having a similar issue.

I have legit copies of XP Pro and Office XP Pro (SP3) installed, I have the CD's with their licences in front of me.  I have not reinstalled or changed anything.

Windows XP validated just fine - however when I click "Validate Office" it jsut takes me to the page (http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/office/nonGenuine.aspx?displaylang=en&Error=101&PartnerID=404&sGuid=4fe52edf-5865-4cfa-80fc-7680ab2cc63a) that says

    "Office Genuine Advantage

    Understand your validation results
Many customers are surprised to learn that their Office software cannot be classified as genuine. Our goal is to help you understand the reasons why your copy did not pass validation, and to show you how you can address this situation. Click here"

I found that it says that my Office is not activated (which it is and has been since I installed it a couple years ago) and so cannot be validated.  When I open any of my office progs. (Word, Excel, Powerpoint etc) and click Activate Now... suprise suprise...
it responds with what it should - namely - "This Product has already been activated."

I am not receiving any other errors.  Mind you when I installed the latest "automatic updates" which started this whole process my machine crashed and when it restarted it reported that it had just recovered from a "serious" error - i think that I allowed it to report the error to MS, but i really cant recall 100%.

I wonder whether this is the USUAL MICROSOFT half-baked bs and i just dont know why i am suprised or let myself get annoyed by it... but that stupid little icon in the bottom right of my screen is beyond irritating.

Any insight on this problem would be great.
