Windows Home Server 2011 remote access not working RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a problem (not uncommon by the look of things on various forums).

    I have setup and installed a WHS 2011 running on an HP Micro server Neo NL36

    The router is a 2Wire (BT) {which doesn't support UPnP - I know}

    The router is configured to pass ports 80, 443 and 4125

    A domain is set up on Microsoft's homeserver domain

    When I try and connect to the site I can I eventually get a timeout

    If I ping the site I get a response, so I would guess that the site name is being resolved by some Microsoft service

    So far I have tried;

    1 Releasing the domain name and re-establishing it

    2 Restarting the server

    3 Doing a repair using the WHS 2011 console

    Does anyone have a clue?

    The first time I installed a WHS at another clients there wasn’t these problems

    Needless to say, all the updates etc. for this system have been applied

    Many thanks

    Mark

  • Hi,

    Please check section “Manual Router Configuration“ in article “Windows Home Server Router Setup”, make sure that necessary ports are configured for appropriate protocols and are re-directed to WHS2011:
    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/922.windows-home-server-router-setup.aspx

    If problem persists, please try to access remote access webpage from internal and external client system, confirm that if there is any difference. Also, please provide me the screenshot of webpage which displays error message.
