what you need to set up a home server?

hi i am new to this forum.
Can any one tell me what you need to setup a home server? could it be accessed remote?
I have an internet connection from bt.
I have a wireless voyager router. into that i have a one hundred gb network drive (lacie network space designed by neil poulton)
My laptop is an acer travelmate 5720. With an operating system windows vista sp1.
is there any thing else that i would need. if any one have any suggestions you may email me on jamescarpenter@iol.ie

The Windows Home Server Getting Started Guide will tell you the hardware requirements. And the other documents on the Support page of the WHS microsite will probably answer many questions you haven't even thought of yet. :)
