CRM 2011 Install Fails on Validation Of SSRS RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi Folks,

I'm trying to install MS CRM 2011 Workgroup on a clean new Windows Server  2008R2 (Sp1) referencing a SQL 2008 R2 Workgroup installation on another physical machine

    • Setup failed to validate specified Reporting Services Report Server http://SQLServer/reportserver. Error: Unknown exception thrown by report server Client found response content type of '', but expected 'text/xml'. The request failed with an empty response.

I'm able to browse both http://SQLServer/reportserver and http://SQLServer/reports . I've tried running the SQL Server Reporting Services (MSSQLSERVER) with the domain admin account, which I'm using whislt doing the install.

I currently have an install of CRM 4 running on another server.

I found another post which mentions manually creating four Groups (PrivUserGroup, SQLAccessGroup, ReportingGroup and PrivReportingGroup) in AD. I've checked in AD and these already exist. I have added both the domain admin account I'm using and the server to each of these groups, with no noticable change.

At this point I'm open to suggestions.

I have also been able to install CRM 2013 within our domain without issue.

    Thanks in advance,

  • Do you have Sharepoint installed on your CRM server. Also is report server configured with "Sharepoint integrated" mode?

  • No it is a clean install of Server 2008R2 with only CRM 2011 being installed so as to migrate from CRM 4 to CRM 2013

I'm running SQL Server 2008R2 which is not running SharePoint either.

    Thanks

  • If you are running SQL 2008 R2 Workgroup edition as you initially indicated, this is not a supported edition and is likely the reason you cannot finish the install.

You will need to use one of the following from the supported list in the Installation Guide:

    • Microsoft SQL Server 2008, Standard Edition, x64 SP1 or R2
    • Microsoft SQL Server 2008, Enterprise Edition, x64 SP1 or R2
    • Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Datacenter x64 SP1 or R2
    • Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Developer x64 SP1 or R2 (for non-production environments only)
    • *Microsoft SQL Server 2012, Enterprise, 64-bit
    • *Microsoft SQL Server 2012, Business Intelligence, 64-bit
    • *Microsoft SQL Server 2012, Standard, 64-bit

    Important

    • 32-bit versions of SQL Server database engine or Reporting Services are not supported with Microsoft Dynamics CRM Server 2011.
    • Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Workgroup, Web, Compact, or Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Express Edition editions are not supported for running Microsoft Dynamics CRM Server 2011.
    • Microsoft SQL Server 2000 and Microsoft SQL Server 2005 editions and are not supported for this version of Microsoft Dynamics CRM.
    • Running 64-bit Microsoft SQL Server 2008 versions for Itanium (IA-64) systems in conjunction with Microsoft Dynamics CRM will receive commercially reasonable support. Commercially reasonable support is defined as all reasonable support efforts by Microsoft Support that do not require Microsoft Dynamics CRM code fixes. Microsoft Dynamics CRM Server 2011 supports a named instance of Microsoft SQL Server for configuration and organization databases.
    • *Microsoft Dynamics CRM Update Rollup 6 or later update rollup is required to use Microsoft SQL Server 2012.
    • *At the time of this writing, there are known issues and limitations when you use Microsoft SQL Server 2012 with Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 on premises versions. For more information, see
