How restrict Project Managers to have access to only specific projects in Project Server 2010?

Question

Hi,
I have a number of project managers, how should I define restrictions in the Project Web App so that specific Project Managers can only access specific projects that they are managing and not other projects managed by other managers?
I am not sure if the 'owner' has anything to do with this, but in this case, I plan to have someone defined as the owner (the person creating the project), and this won't be the project manager.
Thanks a lot.

The owner and the project manager are the same. It sounds like you want someone to create the project and use a standard template, but after this, you may want to assign the owner to the project manager. This is done in PWA. The standard out-of-box is configured for project managers to see only their projects.

Hi Izumibb
As Michael already said, this can be achieved easily, its available OOB as Grops / Category permission set, since you mentioned PM's are not creating the projects, so follow this, Edit the users who will be PM by navigating to Server Settings >> Security Tab>> Manage Users >> Edit the PM >> In Security Group Add Project manager >> In Security Categories , Add Only - My Projects, My Tasks, My Resources , Set permission with template Project manager >> Apply >> Save do this for all PM's
Once Done you are up with your security, now when any new project is created by edit the Project Properties >> navigate to project Centre >> Select Project >> Edit Project properties >> Change the owner
By doing this all your owners will be changed to actual PM's and they will be able to access their own projects only
Hope this helps
