Will I be able to use a single copy of Windows 7 on two different HDDs? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello forums, this is my first post. I have a PC I use mostly for gaming with a 1TB HDD installed. It's about half-full, and I don't want to end up with zero disk space in the future, so I was thinking about buying myself a 2TB HDD and simply transferring the files and programs from HDD 1 to HDD 2. I would then probably use the first one as a workstation. However, I don't want to have to buy a new copy of Windows 7, so I have a few questions. One, will I be able to use the same copy of Windows 7 (genuine, I have the OEM package and activation code) with both HDDs, or will I have to buy a whole new copy for my second HDD? Also, if I end up wanting to put an alternate OS (most likely Linux) on the smaller (C:) drive, will I be able to fully transfer Windows (along with my stuff) to the second HDD and have a blank C: drive to install a separate OS? Windows boots from the C: drive now, so if I move it, will I mess up my computer?

Also, I apologize if I'm posting in the wrong forum. If so, could someone redirect me to the right one?

    Thanks,
