Help setting up forward mailbox RRS feed

  • Using Server Side Sync on premise 2016 SP1.

    When configuring a forward mailbox for incoming mail I get no errors in the log but no emails are created in CRM! The forward mailbox passes incoming test, the user mailbox passes outgoing (direct).

    I am testing the forward mailbox functionality by forwarding (as attachment) an Outlook email to the forward email address. The mail (with attachment) is reaching this mailbox but not being picked up by CRM...

    If I switch the user to direct incoming rather forwarded all is OK. 

    Maybe a simple setup error???

  • OK, I turned on alerts and now on the forward mailbox I can see a couple of errors logged for each failed incoming email: An error occurred while creating the incoming email [email subject] in Microsoft Dynamics CRM for the mailbox [mailbox name]

    In the CrmAsyncService platform traces I can see: >Email  for Forward Mailbox [guid] was rejected because the email  was not a valid forwarded mail item.

    Interestingly the [email subject] above has FW: prefix so it is referring to the forwarded email rather than the attachment that is the email to be created...

    I also do not see any failed trace for DeliverIncoming...

    Note: I get the same result if the attached email is to/from crm user or from external (contact).

    Does anyone have any ideas?
