Using Missing Manual for Office certifications? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a friend who loves the Missing Manual series. Has anyone used one of these in prep for an Office certification (e.g. Access)? The step-by-step series was recommended by a poster here, but I wonder if anyone has any thoughts on this? Thanks!

  • Hi,

The missing series is a great series. For exam prep it's great material but it's to extended. Remember that a lot of chapters won't be covered in the exam. The exams are based on user interaction nd userfunctionality. So in case of Access for instance you'll learn to much for what you need to know for the exam. I encourage you to read and use the book because that way you'll learn a lot about access.

So my advice would be look at the list of items covered in the exams here:

    http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en/us/Exam.aspx?ID=77-885&Locale=en-us#tab2

and use the rest of the book to your own advantage.

And if necessary use additional resources such as the 'step by step' series and the 'inside out' series.
