CRM run on SQLServer 2005 with Reporting Services upgraded to 2008 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a CRM question for you which I've been struggling with for a few days.

    So here it goes.

We are using CRM on SQLServer 2005.

We are using Reporting Service 2005 for reporting.

We need to be able to save reports to Microsoft Word format - 2005 can't do this.

    Our options are

    1) Use Crystal Reports

    2) Use Software Artisans OfficeWriter which is an add-in for SQLServer 2005 that allows this functionality

    3) Upgrade to Microsoft Reporting 2008 but use Microsoft SQLServer 2005 for our data storage.

Number 3 is our preferred option but we no believe that CRM has a dependency on SQLServer 2005 Reporting Services and if we upgrade to SQLServer 2008 Reporting Services then CRM will stop working. Unfortunately we also believe that you can't have SQLServer 2005 Reporting Services and SQLServer 2008 Reporting Services running on the same machine. Having a new machine is not an option as there is the usual failover stuff in place.

So my question is can CRM run on SQLServer 2005 with Reporting Services upgraded to 2008?

    (version of CRM is

MICROSOFT DYNAMICS CRM 4.0 ENTERPRISE EDITION)

  • No reason why not, i know it needs a minimum of SRS 2005 SP2.
