Windows Server 2008 (not SBS)

Question

On page http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee378522(WS.10).aspx I read that "The Windows® Home Server server software can automatically back up as many as 10 client computers on a Windows Small Business Server 2008 (Windows SBS 2008) network.
Is it possible to use it to backup a limited number of clients in a SOHO network with a Windows server 2008 standard (non SBS) server or with a Windows server 2008 R2 Foundation server?
Regards
Mario

Let me clarify my question: given a customer with a SOHO environment based on a Windows Server 2008 Standard server, can they use a Windows Home Server to backup their (less than 10)clients?

Mario

Hi Mario,
It may work but it's not supported. I've had 2003 and 2008 servers backup before but it's not a supported option so it's down to you to work out how to get it to work if it doesn't.
Cheers,
Al

OP question is if backup of clients in server 2008 network will work. This should work and is a supported scenario.- Marked as answer by Mario - Roma - Italy Monday, April 26, 2010 7:12 AM
