Hello Brett. I appreciate your time and efforts. My URL is http://www.proselfdefenseproducts.com I actually ended up #4 in the search for self defense products. They have indexed my search page since. If you want to look at the site and give me a quick review it would help also. I am a real neophyte as I just started 5 months ago and have never built a website. In advance, THANKS
    Ken

  • I see you are ranking fairly well. Have you tried submitting an updated .xml sitemap to our tools? That might trigger a recrawl. I would also suggest running a search on canonicalization. That could help you out too.

Hi Brett. I resubmitted my sitemap a couple of times in the past month. I don't know how to run a search on canonicalization. Do I do that at the webmaster tools? I downloaded the Firefox add on Live http headers but can't figure how to work it as yet. Is there someplace I can learn about that? Also I don't know about redirects. In the results at live search they have me as www.proselfdefenseproducts.com but in my store builder software it is http://proselfdefenseproducts.com
I prefer the www. in there and selected that at Google as my preference. Should I make another redirect in the builder from http etc. to http://www.? Also do I need to redirect my product pages the same way? I hope you can help me. Thanks for everything,
     Ken

  • Yes,

you will need to make a redirect to the www version. Are you usintg .htaccess/ an apache server or IIS?

take a look at these results:

    http://search.live.com/results.aspx?q=301+canonicalization+.htaccess&mkt=en-us&FORM=IE8SRC&src=IE-SearchBox

Live headers is nice. Open up the tool (located under the tools heading in your browser). Once it is open, navigate to your homepage in the browser then look at the headers screen. It will show you all the different requests made for that page. If you don't know what the different codes are, take a look at these results:

    http://search.live.com/results.aspx?q=http+status+codes&FORM=OSDSRC

Hi Brett. I have since been completely indexed for quite a while now and don't know how this thread resurfaced. I thank you for all your time and effort. I am getting a lot of traffic from MSN and am very happy with them. Thanks again for your concern. Ken
