Setting Custom Option Set Values RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

    We have a CRM system that we sync to an ERP system using Data Sync 3.0.

    Our ERP system Accounts has a REGION Integer field that correlates:

    • 1=Northwest
    • 2=West Coast
    • 3=Mid West
    • 4=Texas
    • 5=South
    • 6=Gulf Coast
    • 7=Mid Atlantic
    • 8=North East

    The ERP Region field contains only the number.

    On the CRM side we created a custom entity option set called REGION with the 8 labels.  By default, Option Set started the Option Value at 772,310,000.

    We would like to map the ERP table to the Account entity and have the REGION sync appropriately.

    Our thought was to change the Account.REGION Option Set Values to match the ERP REGION field (i.e. Northwest = 1; West Coast = 2; etc).  However, when we change the values of each of the lookups, we get a CRM Warning stating "the solution's option value prefix (77,231)", but the system lets us keep the values.

    Does any know if we should continue with the matching values?

    OR:

    Is there a place were we can look up the Solution's Option Value Prefix?

    I tried searching on both topics and did not come up with anything.

    Thanks,

    PCR

  • Found it:  The Option Value Prefix is stored in the Publisher Entity.

    I can be found by: SELECT CustomizationOptionValuePrefix FROM FilteredPublisher.

    We were able to make sure that:

    1=Northwest = 77,231,001
    2=West Coast = 77,231,002
    3=Mid West = 77,231,003
    4=Texas = 77,231,004
    5=South = 77,231,005
    6=Gulf Coast = 77,231,006
    7=Mid Atlantic = 77,231,007
    8=North East = 77,231,008

    In our sync tool, we made sure that we added 77,231,000 to the ERP REGION code would give us the Account.REGION Option Set Value.

  • Hi,
    the prefix (in your case 77,231) is based on the publisher solution. However also if you get the warning you can match the optionset values to the one of your ERP Region.
    Normally the prefix is used in order to make easily recognizable from which solution that optionset comes from, but it's allowed to change the values to 0,1,2, etc etc
