message: "This copy of Windows is not activated" RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello-

I am now getting the message "This copy of Windows is not activated" every time at the log in screen.

The first time I received this message, about a week ago, I went to the Windows site and activated my Windows again. I thought I had already activated my WinXP Pro win I installed it a couple years ago, but what the heck, right? But now I still get the message every time. I continued to the activation process again just to be sure, and it shows it has already been activated. According to another post from 2007, I ran MGADiag.exe program and it also shows "Genuine".

    Here are the results:

When I go to the Genuine Microsoft Windows site and run the diagnostics, I get the following results:

So, how do I get rid of this message??

  • Thanks for the quick responses. Apparently it has fixed itself - I think it just needed a reboot after the validation process. I haven't seen the message since.

  • Hello colbymc,

OEM System Builder licensed Windows must be activated by Phone. Have you tried Activating by Phone?  If so, what did the  Activation Rep say?

    Thank you,
