Installing WHS on a external disk

Question
-
Im trying to install WHS on a external disk (internal disk put into a external box).
Firstly it want load WHS. After your able to see Windows Server 2003 the blue screen occurs and then it restarts.
Then tried to reinstall.
This message then came: Hard drive capable of hosting WHS was not found. Would you like to load additional storage drivers?
Where would these drivers be found then?

It's not possible to install Windows Home Server on a USB-connected drive of any sort. It is possible to install XP (that I'm aware of, so probably Windows Server 2003 too) if you're willing to hack the installation a whole bunch, but Windows Home Server will refuse to allow a new installation if there are USB hard drives connected. (Reinstallation with USB drives connected is possible.)
I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)- Proposed as answer by Ken WarrenModerator Friday, October 24, 2008 5:11 PM

Hello,
how is the disk connected?
If via USB, you have 0 chance to install Windows Home Server on it.
If via E-SATA (external SATA), it could work, but only if you can provide additional Windows Server 2003 compatible storage drivers and if the connection has good quality.

Thought I made a reply here....
Disk connected by USB from the external disk which is a SATA disk.
However I have also came across a site that explains how this actually can work.Friday, October 24, 2008 7:06 AM -
