Computer Randomly Switches Itself Off RRS feed

  • Question

  •

One week after installing Live One Care my computer is randomly switching itself off. This has never happened before and I have not installed any new hardware.

Could this be a virus that has not been detected?

  • I don't think that this would be a virus. If Windows is crashing, it could be due to a conflict on your PC. If it simply powers off, it sounds more like a hardware issue.

You can contact support to have this investigated -

  • Do you think it possible that the CPU is getting too hot? In BIOS it says it's 75C.

  • It would be too hot at 75C, in my opinion. Depending on the CPU model and mfg, it should probably be half that or less, though it may run fine approaching 75C.

If 75C is above the spec for your CPU, it is shutting down because of the heat.

    Check your fans and vents.
