Blocked product key

Question
-
I recently purchased an upgrade for Windows 7, but the validation is getting blocked. Before I go back to the seller to demand a refund I want to be sure that the problem is an illegal product key and not because I initially installed Windows 7 on a new drive and tried to validate using this key. I have reinstalled Win7 on the same drive as WinXP, but wasn't sure if my first validation attempt led to the key becoming blocked. Here is the information from MGADiag:

I have check this Product Key and it is showing as Blocked with the reason of: Returned.
I recommend contacting the person or company that sold you the key/software and demand a refund. They (or someone along the distribution chain) has reported this key/software as Returned to Microsoft.
Thank you,

Where did you purchase this key? ( I have an guess based on recent issues with non MSDN blocked keys.)
Was this a digital download?
You could try phone activation They may be able to give you some information.
How to activate Windows 7 manually (activate by phone)
1) Click Start, and in the Search box type: slui.exe 4
2) Next press the 'ENTER' key
3) Select your 'Country' from the list.
4) Choose the 'Phone Activation' option.
5) Stay on the phone (do not respond to any of the automated prompts) and wait for a person to help you with activation.
6) Explain your issue clearly to the support person.
