Set Picklist value with Dynamic Value in Workflow RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi:

I am trying to create a workflow rule so that when a Lead is converted to an Account, the Account record is updated with values from the Originating Lead record.

All the text fileds work fine, however there is no dynamic values available for the picklists.

I have done lots of searching on this and discovered the following responses:

    1. It's a bug and MS are working on a hotfix (Can't find any hotfix)

    2. To create a workflow assembly (Simple for some, but trying to work out how to program with SDK and VS is just way past my capacity).

Does anyone have a simple solution to this I'm sure common request?

    Help very appreciated.

  • Hi Josh,

There are two ways to do this:

    1. Writing a workflow OR
    2. Using the CRM inbuilt functionality of Mappings.

Write a workflow on Lead as the primary enity. Fire the workflow rule when the record status changes.

    To do Mapping:

    1. Go to settings- Customizations
    2. Select the Lead Entity
    3. Click on the 1:N Relationships
    4. Select the Account an Lead relationship
    5. From the combo box select the Type as "Mappable"
    6. Click on New.
    7. Map the required fields.
    8. Save and publish the customizations

    This works..I hope this helps

    Thanks,
    Shonai

  • How do you do it with workflow? When doing it with workflow I dont get given the other entity options to dynamically update the new picklist.

is this a bug? Please help

    Thanks

  • If this is CRM 2011, you can use global picklists and reference them from the two entities. You can then map values between two picklists because they reference the same global picklist.
