CRM4. Workflow. From Lead pass the client to opportunity. Not using converting to opportunity. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello people.

My client needs to generate 1 opportunity per 1 service chosen from the lead form. So in the lead form, there are 3 services.  This means that it should generate 3 opportunities from the same client.  The flow:

    1. Create a lead.

    2. Choose 3 services on the lead form.

    3. Save the lead.

    4. Convert the lead into contact and account.

    At the same time,

    1. A workflow triggers, when the status of lead changes. The condition: service 1 creates opportunity 1; so on.

    Problem

In the workflow, HOW to put the client GUID or name, in the field CLIENT of the OPPORTUNITY? I have tried Client(Lead), but the workflow does not work.

    What can I do?

    Thanks in advance!

    Roxana

    I don´´

  • Hi Roxana,

Workflows does not give facility to select the values from child records. But from child record we can get values of parent record. Check the possibility of constructing the workflow on child records in this case client record.

In your case you may need two workflows (one for account and another for contact). Check if 'originating Lead' field of the client is not blank then proceed to next step in workflow and create opportunity.

    Thanks and Regards

  • Thanks Janu

The solution was: Having the workflow in the Contact or Account entities, not from LEAD, because the opportunity just references to the client (contact or account).

    Greetings.
