comparing and copying music files to 2 computers RRS feed

  • Question

  • Monday Eve

Using a central computer to copy music from CDs, and to create playlists. These files are to be copied to 2 other computers for use. I only want to copy the files that are not on the destination computers.

I need a tool that is transparent for the users. After they copy the music and create the class playlists they will only need to double click an icon for the copying to be accomplished.

We are doing this in a dance studio with 2 netbooks for music source in the studios. Media player is used, with its speed control.

We are covered for copyright issues: we purchase the music and we pay ASCAP and BMI yearly.

    Will synctoy do this?

Any examples of scripts I can review?

  • Hi -

You should be able to use SyncToy to copy this over. Set SyncToy up on the central computer and create folder pairs between the central computer and the two destination computers. Whenever you have new files that you have copied onto the central computer, just run SyncToy to copy to the destination computers.
