  • I think that it's possible to delete your own posts.

If not it should be possible to amend the title so that it reads (also) *solved*.

  • True, but if I deleted it, then someone else trying to figure out how to find the same solution wouldn't be able to search on it and find my solution, and would end up posting anyway.

Why change the title to *solved*? Is that not what the answer flag is for?

  • With a Title like "How do I..." how do people know what has been solved ?
    Wednesday, April 29, 2009 5:57 PM
  • Because it's been marked as answered?

  • I should maybe have stressed the *what*...

The other problem is that in my experience just having a post marked as answered does not necessarily mean that the problem that started the thread has been 100% answered. It depends on the complexity of the question.

Here if the thread had had the Title "How do I put line breaks into my signature?" then having it marked as an answer would indeed clearly indicate (as the question requires a simple "do this"answer) that it was solved. But a question with the Title "How do I ..." could include a series of questions and an answer that was marked as an answer could be answering only some of the questions. In other words with that title you need a "Solved" added to the Title to stop people looking at it to see if they can add something. (Make sense?)
