ASP.NET Forums not working for me RRS feed

  • Question

  • ASP.NET isn't letting me ask a question or reply to open threads.  I read the questions and feedback and How to ask a question anchor link at the top of the page and I can find neither a blue button when I click a forum or a reply button on open threads.  I see the green label saying I must click a forum to ask a question but then I can find no blue button and when I click an open thread I hit <ctrl><f> and type in reply and it doesn't find a reply button.  I then filled out the form on the questions and feedback link and got the following error: (I have tried IE8 Firefox 3.5 and 4.0)

    Server Error in '/' Application.

    Runtime Error

    Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.

    Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This <customErrors> tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".

    <!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

    <configuration>
      <system.web>
        <customErrors mode="Off"/>
      </system.web>
    </configuration>

    Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's <customErrors> configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL.

    <!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

    <configuration>
      <system.web>
        <customErrors mode="RemoteOnly" defaultRedirect="mycustompage.htm"/>
      </system.web>
    </configuration>

    In IE try either starting a New Session (Alt-F,i) or In Private Browsing mode (e.g. press Ctrl-Shift-P)

  • Thanks for the reply this does not work.  I have cleared cookies signed in and out all night. I can even find the green button to start a new thread when I'm signed out and click that button sign in and it doesn't redirect me to start a new thread no it directs me to asp.net home.  It isn't session/cookie problem that I am aware of I use CCleaner to erase user information and I also went to tools options and cleared all that way.

  • Yeah I figured that would have to be the route I just have so many accounts for so many things but thanks Robert for understanding the question and I am afraid that's the only solution though it seems now I have an entire account that is useless.  That seems just wrong some how.

  • Hi all, we resolved this issue on the ASP.NET forums on Friday.  If you log out and back in to the site, you should now see the "Start a New Thread" button on the forums.  If you still do not see it, please use the website's contact form at http://www.asp.net/feedback/ and I can help you further there.
