Installation Error (Mozilla Plugin) RRS feed

  • Question

  • When I try to install the WGA Plugin for Firefox, I get the following error:

    Any ideas?

I can extract the necessary DLL with WinRAR and drop it into the Plugins directory manually, but I would really like to know why the installer fails.

What directory did you put the plug-in into? Have you checked our diagnostics site for background on the proper placement of plug-ins? (www.microsoft.com/genuine/diag)

Are you having issues with other Mozilla browser based plug-ins?

    How about IE validation? :)

To help me understand the issue further can you please follow the steps below?

    1. Download and run the WGA Diagnostic Tool  http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012

    2. After running the WGA Diagnostic Tool, click on the "Windows" tab and then click on "Copy to Clipboard". Paste the results into your forum response.

    Thank you,

    Greg

Could you post the entire diagnostics tool? Inside the diag output gives us a headsup to the browser settings on your computer (which may be the issue with installing the Mozilla Plugin).

I'm tempted to say that this may be an issue with Mozilla/firefox itself, rather than WGA plugin related (as we haven't seen any issues around this *yet*). But its purely speculation.

  • Hello,

Like the user above, I too, have the same problem installing WGA plugin for Firefox. IE validation works fine however.

I have try disable renaming the two files provided at the diag site @ WGA and reinstalling them with OGA tool. But it didnt work.

  • Hi All,

I have encountered this error (Installation error: Installation information data unavailable) as well but I have managed to find a solution.
Download the wgaplugininstall.exe, then extract it (winrar).
Locate your Firefox program file folder.
Copy/overwrite the npLegitCheckPlugin.dll into the plugins folder and
copy overwrite nsILegitCheckPlugin.xpt into the components folder.

I have tried the diagnostics site and the only solution is to redownload the wgaplugininstall.exe which doesn't work me.
