A Virus - Desktop.ini RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi a file named 'desktop' comes on to the BD ROM drive. I have scanned the whole system, but did not find any virus. Even if I delete this file, it comes back after a while. The content of this file is as follows.

    [.ShellClassInfo]
    LocalizedResourceName=@%SystemRoot%\system32\shell32.dll,-21815

    Please help me remove this.
    this is how I see it.

    If I write, will this file be written to the disc?

    Desktop.ini is a HIDDEN SYSTEM file – and is recreated whenever you open an explorer window to that folder.
    LEAVE IT ALONE!

    I have no idea what you mean.
    desktop.ini files contain the data required for personalisation of the explorer view of each folder. They do NOT require manual intervention at ANY time,
    If you don’t want to see them – hide System files, and hide Hidden files in the Folder Options.

  • What difference does it make?  It is only a few bytes anyway.  Once again, you are in the wrong forum.  You need to ask in an Answers forum like the Windows 7 Desktop and Personalization forum.  Go.
