Caller ID being served by WHS RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is there any software that allows CallerID to be served to clients by WHS??  I have experimented with Vista CallerID but apparently you need a client computer to receive the info.  I have a CallerID modem in my WHS box and would like it to gather the CallerID info and send it to the clients.  Maybe I am reading wrong but I don't believe Vista CallerID will do this.

To the best of my knowledge, there are no WHS add-ins with that capability.  And since installing any software of that nature requires installing from the desktop and installing anything from the server desktop is unsupported, no, there is no supported software to do that.

  • I have been using a program called YAC.  It allows you to configure several clients to the server and has worked great for me.

  • I too have switched to YAC.  It is working perfectly on WHS although i had to use the resource kit to make it run as a service.

  • I have to clarify my above statement.  YAC doesn't work well as a service.  Here is a port of YAC that is built as a service.  It is available from here http://www.miteredcode.com/?page_id=362 .    If you install the YACCallerId service from the link above and then install the actual YAC listeners on the client PC's it works well.
