Firewall crash RRS feed

  • Question

  • Not sure if Microsoft has a thing against Blizzard Entertainment and the World Cyber Games (it's been a problem with 1.0, but not so much in 2.0), but when I connect the Blizzard's Battle.net service and WCG's GamOn, the firewall sometimes goes crazy with the networking and it will display the messages of "Network in public place, suspending Network Discovery" and "Network in Home, resuming" over and over again.  It sometimes causes the graphics to goof up in game (meaning I have to alt+tab out and back in to fix).  It finally had enough and the Firewall went berserk and crashed all together causing the computer to freeze up.

    Hi Neo7,

First of all, thanks for helping us out and beta-testing our product! As for your issue, I should start by mentioning that a lot of the balloon pop-ups are being removed in an upcoming beta refresh, so that should prevent all of the alt-tabbing you need to do. Still, this activity is something to investigate. If you can, providing the logs as Stephen mentioned will be helpful.

    Thanks again,

I'm sorry but the feedback site is extremely confusing and hard to navigate.  I cannot find the link/button that goes to a submission form for feedback.

  • The submit feedback link is on the left pane of the Connect page for OneCare. It leads here: https://connect.microsoft.com/feedback/default.aspx?SiteID=168

In order to submit feedback you will need to sign in with your LiveID.

This page explains in detail how to submit a good bug report:

  • Finally found it (site doesn't like FireFox very well -_-)

However...I have been getting a lot of these errors: http://neo.zeikfried.com/pics/wcgerror.jpg
Would this be linked to the firewall glitches?

  • It could certainly be crashing due to the firewall. I like your Sidebar gadgets, by the way.

  • Blizzard has responded:
Starcraft and Brood War Patch Information

    - patch 1.15.1

      Bug Fixes

    - Fixed a replay saving bug that occasionally crashed games.
    - Fixed a bug where the map download progress was not shown.
    - Pressing alt-f4 while in Starcraft and logged into a league now logs you out
      of the league.
    - Updated some of the localization for the league page.
    - Fixed an exploit that allowed nukes to fall anywhere on the map.

This has fixed some problems with crashes, but the graphics still remain a problem.  The recent update for OneCare has also surpressed many of the network messages; thanks for helping me so far!
