Security risk during install? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I plan on adding One Care to a second computer but all the instructions say to access the internet and download the trail version and then register it with my current One Care information.   However, if I access the internet on an unprotected computer, won't it be vulnerable to all sorts of threats?  How do I protect my computer during the install since it won't have any protection running?  Is there anyway to install off of a cd or from a file downloded on a different, protected computer?  FYI - I will be accessing the internet through a wifi connection to my original, One Care protected computer that in turn is connected to the internet by way of DSL.  Thanks

  • Hello sscott, the security risk is minimal since you are going to one specific site and not browsing the internet. You also have some protection from the Windows firewall. There is no other way to install One Care since the retail CD doesn't contain any bits, it only launches a browser pointed to the download site
