  • Hi Christian,
Windows Home Server uses DNS as primary source for name resolution.
NetBIOS can, but must not work and is usually only a workaround. I cannot follow your description, on which point you try to look for NetBIOS and find it disabled.
NetBIOS over TCP/IP is also something else than the NetBIOS as installable protocol - the later is outdated and should not be installed any more (also no other Network protocols like IPX/SPX).
(If you wish to use it, you need to enable NetBIOS overTCP/IP on the WINS tab on both machines - the client and the server, reboot them and give them some time to propagate the name resolution table to the browse master.)

Other than that - it would be more helpful to post, which exact problems you have with your connector software.
    Some standard questions would be:
Which error messages do you get?
Pinging the server by name and by IP address from the client works?
What is is the result of the command nslookup servername?
Which version numbers are shown in the console?
Is the Home Server Connector Software folder in the share \\servername\software intact, up to date and nothing has been removed by you?
Any errors in the event log of the client or the server?

    Best greetings from Germany
