CRM2011: Outlook Client Script Error Line 6 Char 214719 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

We just upgraded our CRM server to Rollup 7 from Rollup5. One of our users has this error in appointment

    1) Open an appointment in Outlook Calendar
    2) Click View in CRM
    3) Click X to close the CRM Appointment window
    4) Get this error

    Script Error
    Line: 6
    Char: 214719
Error: Object doesn't support this property or method
    Code: 0
    URL: https://crmURL/_common/global.ashx?ver=1920529364

There is no script on onload/onsave events in Appointment form.

    Browsed to the line 6, char 214719 --> Mscrm.ScriptErrorReporting.$2X(null)
Tried to clear the caches in IE
    ReAdded the Org.
No error using the web version.

    CRM Server: Rollup7
    Outlook CRM Client: Rollup7
    Outlook 2003 SP3
    Windows 7 64bit.

    Thanks.

  • Hi Donna

After looking into your desktop we resolved the issue. Here is the summary

    1. Close Outlook and IE

    2. Open IE and delete temporary files (Make sure to uncheck “preserve favorites website data”)

    3. Now if you open outlook, you might see that On the Grid's Ribbon is loading... WAIT for it to load

    4. Open the Account, Lead, Appointment

You will not see error any more. -- Well, we verified on Donna machine. Others please follow these steps and see if it resolves your issue.

    Thanks

  • Hi,

Have you tried recycling the app pool or restarting IIS? Try that and see whether that fixes.

I hope this helps. If my response answered your question, please mark the response as an answer and also vote as helpful.

  • I'm seeing the same issue with closing forms when opened in the CRM Outlook client.  I've seen this when opening a Contact or Case form through the CRM Outlook Client but do not have a solution yet.

  • We found the issue. It was the ActivityFeeds.

It happens only with Outlook 2003.

I think ActivityFeeds (in Outlook 2003) reference to incorrect paths. For example, we found an error in the log regarding to this path ../Handlers/WebResource.ashx?name=Images/refresh.png.  The correct path should be ../Handlers/WebResource.ashx?name=msdyn_Images/refresh.png

  • The error that you've referenced is generally related to an incorrect installation of Activity Feeds.  It sometimes occurs because the checkbox to activate SKD processes was not selected when activity feeds was installed.  I don't think that is the answer to this issue because I am running Outlook 2010 and seeing that script error.

  • I think you might have a different error from ours. But in our case, it is the Activity Feeds. We didn't have the issue prior upgrading to rollup7.

After disabling Activity Feeds for Appointment, the script error is gone.

I think the Script Error we had, was just a generic error for misreferenced objects.

  • That sounds reasonable but the error message is exactly the same.  I looked through UR 8 to see if there was a reference to a particular fix for this but didn't see it.  I need to spend a little more time on looking at the kb because I might have missed it.

  • For what it's worth, I encountered the exact same error (line #, char #, error and code), the only difference was the query string value from the OP was "ver=1920529364" and mine is "ver=1335695178". It was occurring on leads, though and not appointments. In the Activity Feeds Configuration for the lead entity, I disabled the Wall and set the Post Configuration record to "Inactive" and it solved the problem. Obviously, disabling it isn't a real solution but it at least temporarily stops the errors, which at this point is something the users are happy about. They understand the tradeoff of not having the wall/activity feeds functionality.

Donna, I will see about reinstalling and double checking the config of the Activity Feeds to see if that makes a difference.

Maybe this will help someone else at least stop the errors until it's fixed. It's been driving the users bonkers.

Thanks HanVo for following up on what you found!

  • My organization had a maintenance window yesterday.  This error is now appearing for every User. We use Online 2011 with Outlook 2010. Currently, we only use the Leads entity. We followed the steps above in regard to the Activity Feeds configuration but the error is still being displayed.  Any thoughts on what else to proceed with?

  • My issue only occurs when opening the record from Outlook and it happens when I attempt to close the record and for all entity types.  I do not have the error when I open the record from a browser rather than the CRM Outlook Client.  I'm checking to see if I can obtain any additional information.

  • Thanks Donna. My Users are experiencing it in the same manner .. Outlook client, closing Lead (only record available in environment).

  • No updates yet, still checking.  I might have to open a support ticket.

  • Did you end up opening a ticket? I've only caught the error once and I was actually in our Dev environment working on the Account form (which isn't exposed yet). Doesn't seem to be limited to Leads or environment.

  • Hi,

I'm unable to reproduce this on a test machine.

I've tried Outlook 2003/2007/2011. I've also tried online and offline scenarios.

Can people who experience this please provide more information? Logs or trace files perhaps?

    Thanks!

  • Hi Aniket,

I ran a trace while reproducing the error.  Please let me know where you would like me to send the trace file.  You can contact me offline through my email if that is easier.

    Thank you,

  • Yes, and the only thing I will add to that is that it can take 5 to 10 minutes for the ribbon to load the first time after clearing the cache so you'll need to be patient.  Thanks for your time and I hope this helps others.

  • I have several users that are experiencing the same problem. I tried the above solution and it worked for some, however, one of my users is still experiencing the script error even after I cleared the temporary IE files. This user also has a yellow bar stating: Server-Only View The current view can only be retrieved directly from the server. Some Outlook functionality does not work with the server only views.
