Using Tables in Web Development RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I am an amature web master. I originally built my web site using tables as the primary means for page layouts. However, In accordance with
W3C standards, tables are no longer compatible and should not be used. Can someone offer some clear guidlines on whether it is still acceptable to use table for site layout?? I will greatly appreciate any feedback.

  • Hello,

I doubt that this topic is somehow related to this forum.

You should try the asp.net forums.

  • You're off-topic here. To respond to your question, TABLEs are still compatible and can be used into any website (even XHTML ones).

But you should not use it for layouting your site, IF IT'S POSSIBLE TO DO THE SAME THING ANOTHERWAY. You should have a strong look at CSS and see if you can update the layout of your site.

BTW, not using TABLEs is an advice, not a duty.
