Product Renewal is Insane RRS feed

  • Question

  •

I have had Live One Care for the past year.  I am due to renew by December 16th.  I had forgotten how incredibly difficult it was to get this foolish thing activated in the first place and renewing an existing account is even more so.

While I continue to get updates -- the Microsoft System allows me to sign in using my Hotmail email ID, however it says that I have no "billing accounts".  The endless loops seeking help and endless circles for getting a simple question answered is appauling.  You can't talk to a human being anymore... and when you can't get a machine's software to cooperate you just want to toss the computer right out the window.

I am so totally aggravated at having spent two hours on this issue and gotten no where.  So now I am what?  BEGGING microsoft to take my money??  How rediculous is that ??   I am pretty computer savvy, but I find this process and looping through endless dead end mazes a totally fruitless and frustrating experience.

Now it is telling me, my Hotmail account is not VALID, yet it allows me to sign in.  Then when I am given options to VALIDATE my account, in only accepts one of those options... I can't even activate or VALIDATE using the PRODUCT KEY from the original box packaging that I was told "DON'T EVER LOOSE THIS !!"  What the F(#$%_) ??  It doesn't let me utilize this option anyway !!!

I am seriously considering going back to Norton or McFee -- they will gladly take my money without me spending hours on this and still not getting it.  I am glad I didn't wait until the subscription completely ran out... because I suspect that this process will take days to resolve.  I think this help system SUCKS and now I have to keep searching for an answer.

I don't have time to do all this READING of help screens, troubleshooting and all the other SOLUTION ***.  I just want a plain simple answer as to why MICROSOFT DATA BASE does not recognize ME yet they keep me up to date with updates.

I am so sick of this problem --- I am not sure how to obtain a timely reasonable answer.  You can't even find a TELEPHONE NUMBER to talk to someone.

I am ready to toss this system off my computer and work with something that isn't so HIGH MAINTENANCE.

You're so concerned about pirated software that you go out of your way to make the simplest of things difficult for your loyal honest and paying customers.  What a way to do business !!!

    An extremely BS Customer !!

My email address is LEMLarry@aol.com  I hope to hear from a human being sometime soon.

  • Based on the fact that the back end says you have no Billing account for your LiveID, it would appear that you are trying to renew with a LiveID that differs from the one you subscribed with.

You can contact support who can provide that information to you using your Key and/or contact information.

How to reach support - http://forums.microsoft.com/WindowsOneCare/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2421771&SiteID=2

Alternatively, sign in at http://billing.microsoft.com with email addresses that you have set up as LiveIDs and one will show your subscription listed - that would the LiveID to use to activate the reinstall.

  • Additional Info:

Oh ya, in my anger, I forgot to mention that I tried all the options, LINKS, and even checked my Hotmail Account and password... Nothing seemed to work.

The result was a brick wall where some of the displayed options were not available.  I even tried the option of renewing as a Trial Member, and that didn't even get too far.

    The problem is:

    1.  Microsoft doesn't seem to recognize my VALID hotmail account.

    2.  Microsoft doesn't seem to have any record that I exist.

    3.  The online renewal website options just go into endless loops on renewal options.

    4.  Help is totally useless.  I tried every single avenue that was suggested.

    5.  I posted this blog - also a pain in the butt, not knowing if someone might actually have an answer.

    6.  Microsoft seems to make a secret of any over the telephone assistance.

    7.  I was happy to give Microsoft my money, but they make it so difficult to renew an existing product that I am having second thoughts.

    8.  I have now wasted 3 Hours on this problem with no resolution and a whopping headache !!

    Any questions?

Nope,  That's not it.  I only have had one email account...

and it is the same one I am using now.  That was the first thing I checked, was if my hotmail account was still active and it was.  It allowed me to logon.  Also, I could sign on as me no problem, but the problem I was having with the email account was only occurring during the renewal process when it asked me to sign in again.

I did the whole billing.microsoft link -- and again, used the ONLY ID that I have.

Since I posted this, I have been looking for TECHNICAL HELP instead of BILLING HELP.  I have now been given a tech support tag number and a phone number to call.

I really appreciate your effort to help, but I did the things you suggested already... checking the ID and I just couldn't get anywhere with the ONE existing ID that I have been using all along.

At least I have a phone number now -- which took a long time to obtain ...  again, I appreciate your responding.

I hope this Assistance number gives me the answer I need.

    Have a good evening !

  • If you are using the correct LiveID, I can't imagine why the Billing site does not recognize you, but please let us know what transpires when you speak with support.

Alfred, are you a paid subscriber? If so, you should be able to get to support per the FAQ instructions -

How to reach support - http://forums.microsoft.com/WindowsOneCare/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2421771&SiteID=2

If it fails to validate your subscription, select the option that you are using a trial or beta copy and you can proceed to email support without validation once you've signed in.

The phone number is not published because trial users are only entitled to email support.

And, what is your actual OneCare problem? You could start a new topic thread here and you may get an answer that will help you without needing support.
