Locked out of my hotmail account. RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • I am locked out of my e-mail account [Removed]. This appears to have happened because either I input the wrong password too many times or changed the password and forgot what to. I believe it to be the former rather than the latter. I have tried to post this on the forum twice before now hoping some bod from hotmail can help me, but have not received replies and the forum stupidly only keeps the last 100 postings available to view. The account has been like this for a week now, so it does not appear to be a time lockout. Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This isn't particularly helpful man. It lead me to another forum with lots of options, none of which directly address the issu. To reiterate and clarify, I am locked out of my e-mail address [Removed] and there appears to be no accessing it no matter how long I wait or what I do. I use my old password, no access. I attempt to go  through the validation process it asks me for my favourite food and I have  no ____ idea; I like lots of food and can't remember which one I put down - besides which it has now locked me out of this as well. I ask it to send me and e-mail, and of course it sends it to the ____ e-mail address I can't access!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  What am I supposed to do?????

  • Post your issue in the Hotmail help forum and someone will help you. We can't help you with Hotmail here.

I doubt that Paul is still following this thread, as it's 6 months or so since he was here.  Try this recent article for recovery help and steps to take to prevent it from re-occurring:

Only Hotmail Support can assist you if the usual password reset means do not work.

If you cannot reset the password through the usual means, see this page for information on how to get help with it:

    http://windowslivehelp.com/solution.aspx?solutionid=bf5d34bf-db28-44ca-ac9a-93838d81b2d6

There is a form to use that Support will act on, but it can take more than a day for them to deal with it. Be sure to enter both the account you cannot access and another account where they can reach you. Once you regain access to the account be sure to set an alternate email address and secret questions and answers for account security at http://account.live.com
