Problems with Windows Live ID RRS feed

  • Question

  •

I've just reinstalled XP and have decided to use One Care rather than Norton 360.

However, I can't get past the setup because One Care will not accept my Windows Live ID.

    1. Why is this necessary in the first place?  Shouldn't the product key be sufficient? (which BTW it hasn't asked for yet!!!!)

    2. Why won't One Care accept the Windows Live ID?

  • There is an issue with the activation sign in that doesn't accept passwords longer than 8 characters. Change your LiveID password at http://account.live.com continue with activation, then change the password back to whatever you desire.

You will be presented with the option to activate the subscription with a credit card or the retail key/PIN. Once activated, your subscription is tied to the LiveID and the key will never be used again except in the case where you may need to contact support to obtain the LiveID for your subscription if you forgot which LiveID it was under.

If the password length is not the cause, please contact support or create a new LiveID for your subscription.
