off topic - Repairing Performance Issues RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • I ran Windows Live One Care Safety Scanner for Windows Vista. The results showed that my computer’s performance has issues. The scanner found 58 registry items that cannot be cleaned. It also found 2120 MB of temporary or other files that cannot be cleaned or compressed. Defragmenting is not necessary.  How do I improve my computer's performance and compress, clean or delete the "other" files?  I have already deleted internet temporary files, cookies and cache.

  • cinden,

What are some of these files that you cannot delete?

Make sure that you have all of your programs closed out before removing files or folders that you want to remove or

    have no use for.

You may also want to consider going into Add/Remove Programs and look at at programs that you no longer use and remove it from the machine.  Also look into the Program files folder itself and if the program file folder hasn't been deleted,

manually try to delete the folder.

    Hope this helps,
