SPAM filter

Question

Hi,
what is going on with the spamfilter of the forum software ? How can it happen that one user can ask about 60 questions per hour ?
Hannes
If you have got questions about this, just ask.
In a perfect world,
users would never enter data in the wrong form,
files they choose to open would always exist
and code would never have bugs.

We have had a fix on this already which allows us to mitigate a little better (you do currently see occasional bursts of spam depending on the volume at any given time). We are deploying additional mitigation measures today.

You are rigth. Also, the related topics part of the webpage can identify the relation so why can`t the spam filter do the same ?

Bryant,
either you fix the spam filter really fast or you can just close the Visual C# forum. It is almost not usable for 8 days now. This is really annoying.

Bryant,
i guess the spamfilter is doing some progress. As least for spammer xyz Dubai it takes about 5 minutes for the spamfilter to figure out it is spamming and also to delete the user. I guess this will stop the spamming for a while.
Thanks

I agree that this 5 minutes is better than what it was, but we are still not at a point where we want to be. We are continuing to rethink and improve our mitigation in order to catch/prevent it from appearing on the page at all.

Bryant,
this 5 minutes thing is sadly gone. Right now we have one spammer in the Visual C# forum, which posted over 200 spams in 42 minutes. I guess it shouldn`t be that hard to identify an user who post more than 2 threads/minute. This would always be some kind of bot.
