One Care Backup RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is it possible to not use OneCare's backup features, if we want to continue using the Vista backup functionality, without getting an "At Risk" message?

If we don't have backup in OneCare configured, what occurs when running Tuneup?  Does it just skip backup, or do we get any messages?

    Sure thing.

    Open OneCare

    Click Change Settings

    backup tab

    Click Configure Backup

Click change settings in the lower left

Make sure that the first screen for Centralized Backup has "No Centralized backup" selected

Click your PC on the left.

Uncheck the selection for "Turn on backup for this PC."

Click Next and save the revised plan.

Your tune-up report will probably tell you that there are files to be backed up, but that you haven't turned backup on for that PC. It won't change your status, though. The yellow status will only appear if you have not configured backup at all. Turning it off counts as configuring it.
