Stalled doing a full restore

  My main computer running Vista SP1 (32 bit) failed yesterday.  Finally got a chance to try out the restore feature.  
  
  Reformatted the drive, downloaded the current iso and create a restore cd.
  
  Everything started out beautifully and the progress bar moved along at a good pace.
  
  At about 50%, it stopped moving, and since then the estimate (originally 42 minutes) has been going up and up (current 3 hours 33 minutes)
  
  Screen is active, I can move the windows around so I know it's still 'live'.  I am able to log into my home server from another machine.
  
  Do I need more patience? Is this a known issue? Any corrective steps I should be taking?
