Training on Replication RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I would like to get training in Replication.  I did not find any traing dedicated to Replication?

Oracle gives training on a particular subject like RAC for 5 days and covers all aspects of RAC. Why Micosoft won't provide that kind of Training?

    Or am I missing them?

    Thanks

  • It depends on how deeply you want to go into replication. Course 6231A (but not version B) contains a module on replication which can can be quite complete if the instructor bothers to explain it in detail. The final lab sets up snapshot, transactional peer-to-peer and Merge over HTTP replication. Of course, there are plenty of things that it doesn't cover (for instance it barely glances over hetrogeneous replication from Oracle to Sql Server), but it is still useful for learning the basics of replication.

  • Hi,

Replication is covered in Chapter 17 of; -

    http://www.amazon.com/MCTS-Self-Paced-Training-70-432-Pro-Certification/dp/0735626057/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1315943674&sr=1-2

Which is the last chapter of this book. I understand this is deliberate since you need to understand many pre-requisite components of database administration before effectively using replication.

So the course is; - Exam 70-432: TS: Microsoft SQL Server 2008, Implementation and Maintenance http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en/us/exam.aspx?ID=70-432&locale=en-us

    I hope this helps.

    Kind Regards,

    Kieran.
