Validation Successful - NOT! RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am trying to use some advanced features from Word 2007 which require software validation.  I run through the steps and it tells me that i may have been a victim of software counterfeiting for front page 2003 and ms office 2007.

i go through the steps and get the message (after downloading the plugins) that Validation Successful.  i try to download the templates again from Word and get the exact same messages and i am not able to download them.

i have rebooted PC, tried with firefox and IE respectively as default browsers and have tried multiple templates - all with the same results.

i am running vista 64 bit and am current on all software as far as i know.

    Any suggestions?

    thanks in advance...

  • Hey Kim,

Thank you for posting in the Office Genuine Advantage "OGA" forums :-). I noticed you have two Office Suite versions currently installed. Office programs  normally do not come standard on computers but are offered for an additional cost. Computer Manufacturers will often include a Trial version of Office Home and Student 2007, which allows you to use it for a limited number of uses after which, it will ask for a valid Office Product Key. Please uninstall the Home and Student 2007 and then restart your computer. Next revalidate Office again and this should resolve your problem.

To answer your question, "could my problems be with the fact that i installed office 2007 first and then installed front page 2003? No this should not have any effects unless you were sold a non-genuine version of Office or an Office standalone program. Please let us know if this resolved your problem Kim.

  •  Hello Kim,

Thank you for re-running and posting the MGA Diagnostic results. I still notice you are running two Office Suites versions as well as FrontPage. Kim did you reinstall both Office Suites and FrontPage again prior re-running and posting your MGA Diagnostic results? Please do the following:

    - Uninstall FrontPage permenately
-- This appears to be the physical cause for not being permitted to download templates. Previously you said, "I run through the steps and it tells me that i may have been a victim of software counterfeiting for front page 2003 and ms office 2007".

    -  Please uninstall MS Office 2007

    -  Please leave Office Home and Student 2007 installed.

You are permitted to install Office Home and Student 2007 on up to 3 machines but please check your End User Licensing Agreement "EULA" for verification. Licensing questions fall outside our support scope for the WGA Forum. Should you have
licensing questions, please call 1-800-426-9400 (select option 4), Monday through Friday, 6:00 A.M. to 5:30 P.M. (PST) to speak directly to a Microsoft licensing specialist. Also you may visit http://www.microsoft.com/about/legal/useterms/default.aspx .

Should you need further assistance Kim post back.

    Thank you,

    Stephen

  • Hello KimCP,

I am moving this thread to the Office Validation forum.

In the mean time, please download and run the Genuine Diagnostics tool at this link http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012. Click "Continue" click the Windows tab, click the "Copy" button, then paste the report into a response message in this thread.

  • Darin -

thanks for the response - i was watching the other forum and missed the fact that you had moved my post...

could my problems be with the fact that i installed office 2007 first and then installed front page 2003?

  • Hi Stephen -

    thanks for the response.

i am confused as to what i need to uninstall.  this is a new computer (my old one had a massive Hard Drive failure) and i have been transferring my installed programs over to the the new one.

i added MS Office Home & Student 2007 and Front Page 2003 - both legal copies that i paid for.  when i call up the Uninstall Programs panel,  I see MS Office home & Student 2007 and MS office professional 2007.  should i uninstall MS Office Professional 2007 and leave the copy of Home & Student that i purchased?

    thanks!

  • Stephen -

I uninstalled Office professional.  it also uninstalled the home and student office.  i had to reinstall my legal purchased version of home and student.  i still cannot access the word templates.  here is the results of the verification program...

by the way, does this reinstall go against me on the number of installs i can do with this disk?  i had to install it on my old computer which is now dead, and i have installed it twice on my new computer.

    thanks for the help -

    Kim P.

    Thank you,

    Stephen
