Studying for MCSA 70-410 - need clarification on question -firewalls RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi There,

I am doing a practice test for the MCSA 70-410 exam.

I am receiving this question on the practice test that I need clarification with:

Your network contains an AD domain called contoso.com The domain contains 25 servers. All servers run Server 2012R2.

You need to create a Windows Firewall rule to prevent administratiros from using IE to access the internet while they are logged on interactively tot he servers. The solution must not prevent administrators from accessing the websites on the internal network.

How should you configure this rule?

    The answer is:

    Rule Direction: Outbound

    Rule type: program

    profile: Domain.

I keep thinking it is port and public.

Could somebody help me out with understanding this please?

  • When preparing for certification exams, you have to learn to read very carefully the text of the questions. In this case they are not telling you to "prevent the user from accessing the internet", in which case you would probably use a rule on the port. Instead it says "prevent ... from using IE ...", which is why the answer says that the rule type is "program".
