The copy of office 2007 turns out it is not genuine RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi I brought A copy of Office 2007 from a American website called shoparhive.com, you got a link and downloaded it.
They sent you a key and I loaded it in and it worked perfectly. Recently my computer crashed so i reloaded office 2007
in to the computer, it says it is a correct key at the beginning, but at the end when you go to activate it it it has started saying it is a faulty key.

How can I complain to microsoft to tell them about the above company and is there anything any one can suggest.

    regards

    simon

    Southernguard,

We will look into this situation. First I need for you to run a diagnostic test and past your results back in the same post. We will analyze the situation.

Please follow the steps outlined below as it could either resolve your issue or, if need be, provide us with additional information to determine the cause of this issue.

    1.      Ensure you log onto the computer experiencing the issue with “Administrator” rights.

    2.      Next we would like to confirm that you are running the most current version of the Genuine Advantage control on your computer. In order to do this please follow the below link and choose the “Validate Office” option.

    http://www.microsoft.com/genuine

If the above steps did not resolve your issue lets continue with the steps below.

If you could also please follow the steps outlined below, the diagnostics Web Site will attempt to resolve the validation errors you are experiencing with Office.

    http://www.microsoft.com/Genuine/diag/RunDiags.aspx?displayLang=en

Next follow the on-screen prompts to resolve the issue if any of the checks at the above site fail. If, after attempting to resolve the issue as per the instructions on the above site fails, please refer to the link below and run the MGA Diagnostics tool:

    http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012

You will be prompted to either “Run” or “Save” the tool. Choose to “Run” the tool and follow the on-screen prompts. You will receive an “Internet Explorer-Security Warning” dialog box for the “Windows Genuine Advantage Diagnostic Tool”; you must choose to “Run” this tool when prompted.

Once you are presented with the Diagnostics tool choose “Continue” to run the diagnostic report. If the “RESOLVE” button is available after running the diagnostics, please click “RESOLVE” to allow the diagnostic tool to attempt a repair.

    1.      After running the MGA Diagnostic tool, click on the “Windows” tab and then click on “Copy”.

    2.      Please return to this post and “Paste” the results here for additional review.

Step 2 is to look on the computer itself, in the documentation you received with the computer or with your retail purchase of Windows to see if you have a Certificate of Authenticity (COA).  If you have one, tell us about the COA.  Tell us:

    1.  What edition of Windows XP is it for, Home, Pro, or Media Center, or another version of Windows?

    2.  Does it read "OEM Software" or "OEM Product" in black lettering?

    3.  Or, does it have the computer manufacturer's name in black lettering?

    4.  DO NOT post the Product Key.

Not sure what to look for?  See this page for reference:  http://www.microsoft.com/resources/howtotell/en/coa.mspx

    Thank you very much,

  • Hello Stephen Holm:

I was able to activate my Office 2007 and run Word and Outlook with no problem with the license key that they gave me. But strangely, after running the MGADiag.exe, the Validation Status says: 101 Not Activated. Is this happening because I changed the license key by first going to regedit and deleting the ProductID and DigitalProductID keys and then re-entering the new license key when launching an Office program for the first time after this process? The keys are under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Registration\{91120000-0011-0000-0000-0000000FF1CE}.

Or is this happening because the key that they are giving is nonetheless pirated? I can send you the license key if you need it.

  • Dan,

I noticed you have a stand alone package of Microsoft Office Project Professional 2007 and Microsoft Office Visio Professional 2007. Both program are giving you a 101 activation error. This code means the product has not been activated or requires reactivation. Stand alone office products usually require separate activation..  First I would try and activate this product then restart the computer after it has been successfully activated.  Should this not work then try to active via the telephone. Activate Office by using the Internet, you can select the “Activate by using the telephone” option. To activate the product this way, follow these steps:

    1) Start any Office program (Your Stand Alone Programs).
    2) In the “Office Activation Wizard”, click the “Activate by using the telephone” option, and then click Next
    3) Read the “Microsoft Office Privacy Policy” page, and then click “Next”.

Note: You are not required to read the Microsoft Office Privacy Policy to continue these steps in Microsoft Office 2007. A link to the Microsoft Office Privacy Policy is provided so that you can read it at any time.
    4) In the “Select your location” list, select a country or region. Call the telephone number that is listed on line 2. The customer service agent will ask you for the installation ID and will give you a confirmation ID in return. Type the confirmation ID in the boxes provided.
    5) Click “Next”.
    6) On the “Activation Complete” page, click “Finish”.

Please reference the following KB Article should you have any problems http://support.microsoft.com/kb/903275/en-us .  Here you will find links for various resolutions which you may encounter.  Also reference the following site for various telephone activation centers:  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/326851

Please re-post here should you need further assistance. Thank you.

  • Hi Carey:

Thank you for the advice. I have reinstalled my Project 2007, reactivated it, and run the tool again. Now it says 100 - Genuine.

  • Dear Stephen:

I came to the website and found a report piracy link. I am not sure, however, if this piracy happened in the US or outside the US. The person I was communicating with seem to write in fluent English. But the website does not give any contact information except a small box where you can type in your questions and a submit button to submit the questions. If you go to the whois database apparently they use a service that masks their real location. Also, I was purchasing the software in Canada through the Internet. You can go and check the website yourself: www.shoparhive.com.

Also, I am thinking to just get a different copy of Office 2007 now that I am suspicious that my copy is pirated. But is it possible that I receive some discount for that? I am a university student but my school does not seem to provide Office 2007 at a discounted price.

    Thank you,

    Dan

  • Dan,

Glad the piracy site was of assistance. Have you submitted the piracy report as yet? Please provide all the information which you have described here when you submit a piracy report. Detailed information will help the piracy team. Microsoft legal will follow up on all leads customers provide.  Submitting piracy reports will assist in stopping unscrupulous business practices.  You may be eligible for free software if you have high quality counterfeit discs. We CANNOT determine the "Quality" level of non-Genuine submissions and cannot guarantee such a thing here on the forum. We have a 3rd party registered Cryptography lab who evaluates EVERY (really!) submission for the High-Quality Counterfeit replacement program - as they have a pre-determined subset of items they look for.

Please visit the following website: http://www.microsoft.com/resources/howtotell/. This can help you possibly identify if your Office 2007 is genuine or non-genuine. Also Carey offered a link for the Office Genuine offer.  Please review the information.  Also Microsoft Market Place located:   http://www.windowsmarketplace.com/ offers a wealth of alternatives including Student versions.

Again thank you for the information and if we may be of further assistance please post back in the thread.  Have a great weekend.

  •  From my experiance with Shoparhive. all I can say is, DON'T go near them. I ordered a copy of Vista from them, and am still unable to use it.
They don't give u any instruction on what do do with the file once it is sent to u (a complicated mess of actions and programs are required)
I sent serveral emails asking for a refund to which they told me "all sales are final"
I emailed to tell them this was not good enough and I reiceived an email in return telling me to "GO F**K YOURSELF"

How can I complain to microsoft to tell them about the above company and is there anything any one can suggest.

    regards

    simon

I found this website that sells Office for a lot less than retail. This site specifically says and so does Microsoft that Microsoft does not offer their products via download and if you find a site that does it probably isn't a legitimate copy.
